- Speedy Fordham leads NCAA in stolen bases (AP) Thu, 08 May 2008 14:20:10
Nick Restaino has a bunch of thieves on his Fordham baseball team. They don’t think twice about stealing, and the Rams coach wholeheartedly encourages all the pilfering. “We’ve got guys who can run and really steal bases,” Restaino said. “And speed kills in sports, right?” It sure does, and it also can help you win ballgames. - Bucknell’s Buursma a double threat for Bison (AP) Wed, 07 May 2008 13:05:41
Jason Buursma pitches, hits, plays all over the field and even runs the game music for Bucknell’s baseball team. Name the task and he’s handled it as the Bison’s do-it-all star. “I just like to play,” the senior pitcher and outfielder said. “I like to be out there. Put me anyplace and I’m happy.” And it shows.

A Georgia Tech pitcher died last month from an accidental drug overdose, the medical examiner’s office said Monday, but it has not been determined if heroin was involved. The Bantams have a chance to end the regular season undefeated when they play a doubleheader at Wesleyan on Saturday. - Hutts’ death brings Georgia Tech players closer (AP) Thu, 01 May 2008 03:02:45
The mention of Michael Hutts caused Charlie Blackmon to pause, swallow hard, and look at the ground for a few seconds before responding. The pain felt by Blackmon and his Georgia Tech teammates following Hutts’ April 11 death is still sharp and obvious. Blackmon said players turned to each other when seeking comfort after the pitcher’s sudden death. - Slugging Shehan leads Georgia Southern’s potent offense (AP) Wed, 30 Apr 2008 19:30:17
Chris Shehan and his Georgia Southern teammates shake their heads when they think about what their potent offense is doing this season. “It’s been really exciting,” the Eagles’ junior outfielder said. “From the opening game until now, there’s really nowhere for other pitchers to go in the lineup.” That’s for sure. - AP NewsBreak: Omaha, NCAA reach CWS deal (AP) Wed, 30 Apr 2008 17:54:06
The College World Series will be played in Omaha at least through 2030, under an agreement the city and NCAA reached Wednesday.
